George Nelson CSS Bookcase

A white lacquered and aluminium wall-mounted bookcase from the 1970s by designer George Nelson, produced by Herman Miller and distributed in Europe by Mobilier International. CSS model: Comprehensive Shelf System.

Fully modular. The four floor-to-ceiling aluminium uprights rest on the floor via an adjustable gas strut and are secured to the ceiling by a spring-loaded telescopic rod that slots into a dowel.

Comprising several modules and shelves that slot into the uprights without tools thanks to the aluminium brackets: the height of the modules and shelves can be adjusted using adjustable fixings that slide along the uprights (tool required: Allen key).

It features its rare magazine rack.

It is also possible to position the modules and shelves against the wall by reversing the aluminium brackets (original to this model, such as this one : css George Nelson) or to use it as a ‘room divider’; it can serve as a screen or partition between two rooms.
