Pair of original Platner armchairs created in 1966 by American designer Warren Platner for Knoll. Bronze steel finish.
A true icon of 1960s design, the Platner armchair is one of the most emblematic pieces of American modernism.
Its sculptural base, composed of dozens of precisely welded steel rods, forms an airy, graphic cylindrical structure. This wire frame now a signature of the Platner collection captures the light and gives the armchair an elegant, architectural presence.
The wide, enveloping seat, generously padded, offers exceptional comfort. The contrast between the slender steel base and the plush volume of the cushion creates a perfect balance between design and comfort.
Our model is an authentic first edition Knoll from 1974 with its original invoice dated May 28, 1974. The store still exists.
Does not have a stamp, but this is common for this period. The zipper is brass by Spider, typical of Knoll productions from the 1970s.
We have chosen to present this piece in its original, unrestored condition. The steel structure has been checked and is in excellent condition. The lilac fabric, like the structure, is entirely original and shows signs of wear consistent with age.
